MAADD is devoted to bridging the Digital Divide between those who have ready access to technology and those who do not. The organization is led by two Chicago-based ministers with additional chapters led by ministers in Florida, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Pastor Roosevelt Watkins, III, Co-Director and National President of MAADD, is the proud Senior Pastor of Bethlehem Star M. B. Church in Chicago, IL. Watkins graduated from Western Illinois University with a Political Science Degree and also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Governor State University. He is the Founder and CEO of H.O.P.E. Organization, an organization designed to assist low income residents and other individuals that may find themselves in need of social services in the City of Chicago. He is also the Co-Founder & President of Pastors United for Change. Pastor Roosevelt Watkins is a prolific preacher with a dynamic message of hope, deliverance, and restoration. A champion of social justice, Pastor Watkins speaks for those who have no voice to speak for themselves.
Rev. Dr. Walter B. Johnson, Jr. is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of MAADD. He began public speaking when he was eleven years of age at Greater St. John A.M.E. Church and his local school, George Gershwin. He was one of the youngest persons (16) ever to be licensed to preach and later ordained in the conference. Dr. Johnson was appointed in October of 2008 as the Senior Pastor of the historic Greater Institutional Church. He has previously pastured six churches in and around the Chicago land area: Mount Zion, Robinson Chapel, Turner Memorial, Greater St. Paul, Allen Chapel Rockford, and Wayman on the near north side (or the Cabrini-Green community). This year marks thirty-eight years in Christian ministry in servitude to humanity.
Rev. D. Alexander Bullock, president of MAADD’s Michigan chapter, has preached throughout the Midwest, Northeast and Southern United States. As a teacher, he has lectured throughout the Midwest and has impacted the lives of undergraduate college students in both Detroit and Chicago.
Pastor Derrick L. McRae, Florida Chapter President of MAADD, is Senior Pastor of The Experience Christian Center in Orlando, Florida. He is the former Youth Minister of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Eatonville, Florida where he built a mentorship program for underserved youth. As an active member of the Orlando community, McRae works diligently to expand fellowship through outreach, focusing on youth development, performing arts and worship experiences. Pastor McRae’s energetic enthusiasm for education and his trusted voice in the community has allowed him to successfully lead projects that have created enormous educational benefits for local youth.
Rev. Dr. William (Bill) Land, Ohio Chapter President of MAADD, is currently serving as Pastor of Phillips Chapel CME Church in Springfield, Ohio. Dr. Land has served in many capacities in the Civil and Human Rights Movement. He has worked with the NAACP (Georgia, Mississippi, Maryland, Tennessee and Alabama) CORE; Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). Dr. Land’s civil rights background has led him to passionately advocate for access to broadband in low income communities.
Reverend Nazim B. Fakir , Minnesota Chapter President of MAADD, is the pastor of St. Peter’s AME Church in Minneapolis, MN. He received the Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration Summa Cum Laude from the University of Detroit Mercy and the Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in Urban Ministry from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, where he was a Garrett-Evangelical Leadership Scholar.
Reverend Fakir was called by God while attending Oak Grove AME Church in Detroit, Michigan. As a field education student, Reverend Fakir served as an associate at Ebenezer AME Church in Evanston, Illinois, and at St. James AME Church in Chicago, Illinois. Most recently Reverend Fakir served as the pastor of Celia Gregg AME Church in Calumet City.
Reverend Fakir is a man of God who seeks to fulfill the Kingdom agenda in his life and ministry, and is committed to preaching and teaching a social gospel that inspires believers desire to serve humanity and to enter into a deeper relationship with Christ, while also providing trans-formative ministry to Minneapolis and beyond.
